What is Health e-Lunch Kids?

Health e-Lunch Kids is a top quality food service that delivers healthy lunches and snacks to school age children each and every day, in time for lunch. Menus’ are developed by a child nutritionist, while lunch is prepared fresh daily by a certified chef.

Why Health e-Lunch Kids?

Health e-Lunch Kids creates delicious, nutritious lunch and snacks that kids love to eat! The menu offers a wide variety of lunch and snack items.

All lunches are balanced and nutritious for your child to eat every day. All lunches are carefully balanced for good carbohydrates, good fats and protein. We deliver your pre-ordered lunch to your child’s school or camp every day, you don’t have to worry about a thing! It’s a convenient and affordable way to make sure your child creates good eating habits early on, while enjoying their lunch! For the simple benefit of schools receiving the lunch deliveries, they will receive a cash donation for each lunch. You are not only benefiting your child’s nutritional habits, but also funding school!

How far in advance can I order?

We require 48 hours advance ordering, including weekends. All orders must be placed by 10AM, 48 hours in advance of scheduled delivery. For example, place orders by 10AM on Saturday for Monday delivery.

Do you deliver to my school?

We deliver to ever expanding schools and day camps. For a current list, please click here. If your school or day camp is not listed, please fill out the form provided on the site. We will contact the school or day camp and let you know when service is available.

Why doesn’t Health e-Lunch Kids provide service to my child’s school?

We welcome new schools and camps to the program. We are happy to include your child’s school or camp. You can help by talking to the school director and then getting in touch with us. Delivering to new schools is easy for us, call or email us and we will begin delivery immediately!

What is your inclement weather policy?

If there is enough notice between the time snow arrives to give us advance notice to keep from making lunches, we will cancel all orders placed on that day and credit your health e-bucks account.

However, if notice and snow arrives at the time we have already prepared the lunches and are in the middle of delivery, we will give all lunches away to The Lamb Center, Fairfax County’s only shelter. This means no account will be refunded, but please know your dollars will be feeding a less fortunate person.

My child doesn’t want to eat the food.

It is true that children usually will not like new foods just because they’re new or have a different color than their used to seeing. It’s much harder to introduce new and healthy foods as children get older. We must keep introducing and reintroducing new and healthy foods as much as we can. We encourage you to keep promoting healthy eating as it lasts children’s whole lives long.

Are the lunches fresh?

All lunches are prepared with healthy, fresh, organic ingredients daily. None of the food or ingredients used to prepare the lunches is ever frozen. These lunches are prepared in the freshest manner possible so it tastes good and is fun to eat. On a safety note, the lunches are packed and delivered to your child’s school daily in time for lunch. We store each lunch box in fresh, cooler bags up until your child’s lunchtime.

What if my child has food allergies?

Health e-Lunch Kids prepares meals in a facility that is peanut-free and does not cross-contaminate. If your child has food allergies, it is your responsibility to contact us directly to discuss any potential risks in our menu offering. We honor all school policies regarding food allergies, please contact us.

My child is a picky eater.

We do hope we have provided enough variety in our menu’s to work around your child’s likes and dislikes. If there are items you would like to see on our menu please email to customerservice@healthelunchkids.com

My child’s favorite sandwich is not on your menu.

If you send us an email to customerservice@healthelunchkids.com with the item request, we will work to include it in future menus.

My child likes the same sandwich filling every day.

Most children do. Feel free to order the same lunch every day. We will add a future enhancement in later months that will allow you to repeat lunches.

My child likes food in small sizes. Can this be done?

We cater to children’s little hands. All fruits and vegetables are cut into child friendly sizes. Oranges and apples are sliced . Sandwiches are cut into child friendly sizes.

My child doesn’t like sandwiches. What can he/she have?

We have many main entrée offerings on the menu (vary monthly) Children can choose from pasta salad, hummus with vegetables or pita for dipping, chicken nuggets (baked), quesadillas and more.

How do I begin to create and order lunches?

Just click on Start Here and we will walk you through how to sign up, or we have intuitively set up account management, so you can just sign up by clicking on the top right hand button on the home page called “Order Now” and start ordering! Sign up today, and we can deliver your first lunch in two days. When you sign up, you’ll select a lunch price and a drag a lunch to a calendar day. The system will fill in your calendar from that date on and track all scheduled lunches.

What happens if my child is ill and cannot go to school the day lunch is scheduled?

Cancellation due to illness must be received by 5pm the day before delivery. The order will remain canceled until you resume your order online. Cancellations will receive a credit and carried over to your next order.

What happens if my child’s lunch did not get delivered?

We can’t imagine missing a delivery to your child! But if we did, the school would give us a call, and we’d take the lunch over immediately!

When does lunch get delivered?

We deliver lunches to schools each day at or around each school’s lunch time.

What happens if schools have scheduled holidays?

We know all of our participating schools and camps holidays. Your school’s/camps holidays will show up on your calendar as blackout dates—so you won’t have to worry about service on those days.

What if I want to add an additional snack?

You have the option of ordering an additional snack. You even have the option of ordering a snack box with or without lunch. Snack boxes are delivered with lunch for late afternoon or after school snacking.

What if I want to add or change an already existing lunch created?

You can add items/delete or edit lunches to an already created lunch 48 hours in advance.

Can I order lunch for just one or two days a week?

Yes, during the ordering process, you have the option of selecting specific days you want to order lunch for.

What is the Health e-Treat?

The treat is added fun to the healthy lunch box. The mini treats are small in portion, low in sugar and non-hydrogenated.
